Turner had been seriously injured in a shooting two years before, emerging as a quadriplegic paralyzed from the neck down. Searching for Turner's step-brother in a drug sweep, FBI agents raided the house of Turner's mother, with the mother's permission and warning about the fragile health of her daughter. Agents used flash-bang grenades. Turner never recovered and was found dead on the day before Thanksgiving.
