At Rest

Deadly force
Deputies in an unmarked car began tailing Alfredo Montalvo on suspicion of drunk driving after he rolled over a curb while leaving a Circle K in Lynwood. Montalvo didn't pull over and the tail turned into a pursuit, with multiple marked sheriff's vehicles joining. The chase ended when Montalvo crashed into two parked cars, wedging his own car between them. When he tried to back out, deputies shot 61 times, killing him. The family was awarded $8.85 million.
This record exists so that Alfredo Montalvo, and all who are named in this archive, are never reduced to a number.
