Butcher was the sole occupant of a stolen green 2009 Jeep Patriot, chased by police. Some witnesses claimed the police rammed, or shot at, the Jeep. In any case the other flipped and crashed in the narrow city streets after Butcher lost control. He sustained fatal injuries.
