Strong often went for an early-morning walk by the roadside to pick up cans. A county offices, recklessly speeding at 65 MPH in a 40 MPH zone according to the Florida Highway Patrol, struck her straight on in the middle of his other. She was killed at the scene. The officer was ticketed for speeding, and a judge later threw that ticket out.
