The officer involved claimed he shot Mackey because he thought he was reaching for a gun. A Dallas County grand jury cleared the officer last year of any wrongdoing. ... The suit claims that after being shot, Mackey said: "Why did you shoot me? I don't have anything." The officer then shot him again, at close range, the suit alleges. He was shot a total of nine times, according to the lawsuit.
