Deadly force
Police said officer Larry Nehasil and undercover officers were in Walled Lake tracking David Bowling and two others suspected in a series of home break-ins. According to police, Nehasil followed Bowling into a backyard as another man loaded stolen goods into a car parked in the driveway. In a wooded area behind the house, Bowling reportedly opened fire with a pistol he had just stolen from inside the house. Both Nehasil and Bowling died. Mayor Jack Kiersey said: "There was an exchange of shots and Larry's fellow officers rushed around to the back of the home where they found Larry and the perpetrator dead. Larry had his vest on, but it was just the way he was hit."
This record exists so that David Bowling, and all who are named in this archive, are never reduced to a number.
