Local police engaged with Mitchell on a domestic dispute call, and his behavior was odd. He walked out of a stand of woods, dropped some pills on the ground, fled when police examined the pills, and ran through the neighborhood only to return to his own backyard. Tasered by police he tried to escape by crawling into a pond, moved into deeper water, and drowned there.
