Deadly force
Barsness, a suspect in the carjacking of a taxi driver at gunpoint in Minneapolis, led police on a high-speed chase in the cab. Officers forced him off the road on Interstate Hwy. 35E in Lino Lakes. As he exited the other, police said, he was holding a silver handgun. Police say Barsness ignored their orders to drop the gun, and instead pointed it at them. Officers fired. The Pioneer Press reported that a silver air-gun pistol was found next to Barsness' body. The officers who fired shots were troopers Jared Sturgill and Andrew Gibbs, Minneapolis police officer Paul Dellwo and Brooklyn Park police officers Michael Ploumen and Adam Moen.
