A state trooper tried to pull over Sheppard on his Suzuki motorcycle for fake tags. Sheppard fled instead, for a 12-mile pursuit, ended when he ran a red light at a busy suburban intersection. His Suzuki struck an SUV and he incurred fatal injuries.
