Jose Almanza Lopez was killed when his car crashed on Highway 101 during a police chase. The pursuit reportedly began on Oxnard Boulevard after Lopez failed to yield. When Lopez tried to enter the southbound freeway, he was unable to make the right-hand curve, hit a raised island, lost control of the other and rolled several times onto the freeway. Lopez was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:16 a.m.
