William Lee Ball Jr. was believed to be the person who jumped to his death into the river from the Midland Boulevard bridge. Officers searching for the man who jumped from the bridge found Ball's body just upstream from Lock and Dam 13. Motorists on the bridge called 911 to report a young white man acting intoxicated on the bridge. When officers tried to approach the man, he jumped from the bridge, fell 80 feet into the river and didn't surface.
