Ted Rose called 911, saying his son – 24 years old and a schizophrenic – was being violent. Johnathan Rose was asleep when Deputy David McEntire arrived but woke up and attacked the deputy, who beat him with a flashlight and then shot and killed him. The family was eventually awarded $6.5 million. Ted Rose didn't live to see the verdict.
