A police officer suspected of having sex with an underage girl knew he would be killed when he drew a gun as he was being arrested by his best friend on the force, it has been claimed. Officer Alberto Covarrubias Jr, 29, was shot and killed early on Saturday at the end of his shift working a DUI checkpoint in Santa Maria, California as his fellow officers narrowed in to make his arrest. The shooter was his own patrol partner, Officer Matt Kline - the best man at his wedding just three weeks earlier.
