Tripp was crossing the street with several relatives--in a crosswalk but against a red light--when she was struck by an on-duty Secret Service agent's other. She unfortunately attempted to duck into the path of where the driver swerved to avoid her. The agent was cooperative, tested negative for any drugs, had a clean driving record, and was not charged.

Why we remember them

This record exists so that Maria Tripp, and all who are named in this archive, are never reduced to a number.
