Less-than-lethal force
Pedersen, excited and irrational, asked officers for help. Officers assumed he was intoxicated and tried to calm him down. Pedersen became even more erratic. Officers handcuffed him. Pedersen resisted officers. Paramedics responded. Pedersen's condition worsened when he was put into the ambulance, and he was pronounced dead at a hospital.
