Police took a number of citizen complaints about the driver of a gold Chevrolet Cavalier. They found Haney driving the stolen car but he bolted from a traffic stop and fled north on the coastal highway at high speed. With police in pursuit he attempted to pass a car, lost control of his own other, and died in the resulting crash.
