Initial reports described Swanson approaching two off-duty officers at a party, "armed, naked, and irrational," armed in fact with an inoperable antique pistol. It later emerged that the two of them had taken photographs of her about 15 minutes previously, walking naked through the woods and admitting to being "a little confused."
