Officer M.K. Kaspar found Martinez, beaten by Douglas Lockerman, laying on the ground at a residence. Martinez was transported to Memorial Herman Medical Center, where he died in the presence of officers. Lockerman later told officers that he walked in on a robbery by Martinez and a second man. Martinez punched him. Lockerman beat Martinez until he no longer seemed to pose a threat, then grabbed his phone from his truck.
