An APD officer shot at, but missed, Kendall Carroll, 21, during a four-hour SWAT standoff between Carroll and State Police and APD, during which Carroll fired numerous times at officers from inside a Northeast Heights apartment with a handgun. A State Police officer fired the shot that killed Carroll. The handgun Carroll had was later linked to an earlier shooting of a policeman.
