Deadly force
LAPD officers responding to an "assault with a deadly weapon" report shot and killed David "Dizzy" Martinez. Martinez fled on foot when confronted by police. No gun was found; police apparently mistook Martinez' cell phone for a handgun and Martinez for the person who had earlier "assaulted with a deadly weapon". Martinez died two months after the injury.
