Suicide

Police had been called to the scene because Eliseo Mercado-Resendiz was reported to have a gun and was firing into the air from the front yard of the home. Police ordered Mercado-Resendiz to drop the weapon, but he pointed it both at his own head and at officers, according to police reports. One officer fired hitting Mercado-Resendiz in the chest just as the subject shot himself in the head. The coroner said the head wound was fatal, but the chest wound could also have contributed to his death. His blood alcohol content was .203 at the time of death.
