According to the Fruita Police Department, Pollard fled in his car after being pulled over during a routine traffic stop. Fruita Police caught up with Pollard when they found his car parked outside a trailer. Police knocked on the door and Pollard emerged brandishing a handgun. Three officers shot and killed Pollard, who may have been part of the Sovereign Citizens movement.
