An officer responding to a neighborhood disturbance encountered Kenneth Dewayne Cooper brandishing a rifle. Cooper fired at the officer who fired back and wounded Cooper. Cooper attempted to flee but was apprehended by another officer. Cooper died in transit to the hospital.
