Officers were dispatched after a caller reported an armed person walking in the 2200 block S.E. 15 Street. A second call advised that shots had been fired. Police made contact with Mark Alan Chernin who was armed with a rifle and two handguns. Chernin ignored orders to disarm and raised the rifle toward the officers, who shot and killed him.
