Shawn Spiros

Deadly force

Shawn Spiros was shot and killed during a standoff with police. Officers had responded at around 7:40 p.m. after a 911 caller reported that Spiros was drunk, waving a handgun in his front yard and yelling "call the police." Spiros was sitting on his front porch when police arrived. According to police, the officers attempted to engage Spiros in conversation in an attempt to defuse the situation, but weren't successful. Spiros allegedly pulled his gun from his waistband and raised it in the direction of the officers before pointing it at his own head. Police said an officer fired at Spiros at the same time that Spiros shot at his own head, and that they didn't know who fired the fatal shot.
