Police responding to a domestic violence call encountered Al Pickett brandishing a gun. Pickett's ex-girlfriend was seeking a protection order from him, so he stabbed her twice. Officers ordered Pickett to drop the gun, but he refused. The officers shot and killed Pickett. The ex-girlfriend survived her wounds.
