Police shot and killed Burlakoff, who suffered from bipolar disorder, after failing to comply with officers' orders and tried to reach for a handgun. Witnesses said that Burlakoff had just earlier shot and killed his wife. Her body was found in an empty lot. Burlakoff's death was ruled suicide-by-cop because witnesses say he asked for police to shoot him as he reached for his gun.
