Jose Maldonado was arrested for alleged malicious mischief, during the process an officer punched him in the face and pepper sprayed. After Maldonado was placed in a jail cell, he managed to escape and began struggling with police. Officer Jason Kaplan tasered him. Maldanado showed signs of medical distress, was taken to a local hospital, and died shortly afterward.
