Less-than-lethal force
Witnesses reportedly told police that Edwards was struggling to walk around, screaming erratically for help and said someone was trying to kill him. As employees tried to escort him out of the store, Edwards began to struggle with them. Outside, police held him on the ground until medics arrived and tried to perform CPR. He was taken to St. David's South Austin Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy shows he died as a result of the "combined effects of methamphetamine, PCP, and the stress associated with restraint procedures," as reported by the Travis County medical examiner's office. The officers involved will not face charges.
