At 3:27 p.m., deputies found Pihota's cousin in a parked other on a rural road. Pihota's cousin said that Pihota was in a field looking for mushrooms. Deputies arrested Pihota's cousin. At 5:41 p.m., deputies called Lavaca County Rescue Services for Pihota. Pihota arrived at Lacava County Medical Center at 6:47 p.m., wearing handcuffs and leg irons. Pihota died at 7:34 p.m. of methamphetamine toxicity. The Texas Ranger Division investigated.
