Less-than-lethal force

Phoenix police responded to reports of a man making threats to the occupants of a home. The man was known to the occupants of the house and was reported to be on "some type of drug or drugs," Lewis said. Prior to police arriving at the scene, the subject fled to a residence in Scottsdale, where Phoenix and Scottsdale police made contact with him. During the arrest, a struggle ensued and an officer fired a taser. The subject was then taken to a nearby hospital where he later died. It is uncertain if the tasering was the cause of the man's death and the incident is still under investigation.
