According to reports, police responded shortly after 2 a.m. to a report of malicious destruction of property. Police said officers saw the other and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, Eric J. Robbins, reportedly fled the scene at a high rate of speed and crashed into a tree about five blocks away, killing him.
