Police and sheriff's officers were responding to a domestic abuse call. When they arrived, Martinez was armed with a gun. The law enforcement officers shot him as he brandished a rifle. After reviewing the 911 call, police believe Robert Martinez placed the call himself, disguising his voice to sound female.
