Police said after a high-speed chase and crash, Thompson got out of his truck and ran toward the officer. The officer gave multiple commands to stop. When the driver kept advancing, the officer tasered him. He died three days later. Jesse Craig Santifort, 34, eventually pled guilty to assault when the police narrative reported above proved false. A grand jury initially had indicted Santifort in September 2016 for involuntary manslaughter.
