An Iowa Department of Transportation officer tried to stop two motorcycles near the Pottawattamie County jail at around 10 p.m. Instead, the riders sped away and the officer reportedly watched Lance McCormick lose control of his 2006 Yamaha, go over the curb and hit a fence.
