Heberliing was struck by a deputy on patrol along Northeast Sandy Boulevard in Wood Village, the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office said. The crash happened around 4:10 a.m. near the Walmart Store. The deputy told investigators that the man was not in a crosswalk and was wearing dark clothing.
