Sgt. Rod Lucas was shot to death in a sheriff's office when Detective Jared Mullis pulled out his gun to show Lucas his holster. The felony charge of involuntary manslaughter appears to have been withdrawn before trial. Since the police were discussing their armaments at the time of the reportedly accidental shooting, Sgt. Lucas may have been armed when he was shot and killed.
