An Arizona state trooper was investigating a traffic accident, when an occupant of the other, Leonard Penneles-Escobar, shot him and and then attacked him. A passerby saw them fighting and shot and killed Pennales. Pennales' passenger, Vanessa Monique Lopez-Ruiz, 23, died at the scene.
