An officer was patrolling the parking lot of the Extended Stay Hotel on State Farm Parkway around 1 a.m. when he encountered Thomas Walton. The officer and Walton fought, and Walton was able to get the officer's stun gun and used it against him. The officer shot and killed Walton.
