Newton police officers tried to stop a other that was reported to have been involved in a car burglary. The driver led officers on a high-speed chase north on Interstate 135, police said. The driver stopped in the median after he ran over spike sticks. The people inside refused to leave the other for several minutes, and then when the driver got out, he started fighting with the officer, police said. He was shot and killed.
