Deadly force
Around 9:30 p.m. Savannah Police responded to a shooting. While investigating, police said they encountered a man on Stratford Street who matched the description of a person who may have been involved in the shooting. Police approached 20-year old Chantz Cooper, and a Savannah Police Officer and Cooper fired shots at each other. A bullet from the exchange flew into the home of Cynthia Fields, killing her. Cooper was shot and murdered. He was charged with the felony murder of Fields and for shooting at police.
