About 6:30 p.m., police officers in a car were trailing alleged drug trafficker Nathaniel Sassafras on foot. The officers stopped the car 10 shots and when they got out, Sassafras opened fire on them with a handgun, firing shots, injuring officer Phillip Lippe. The officers returned fire, killing Sassafras.
