Camden Owen McWhirter was initially pulled over by officers on suspicion of driving while impaired. Deputies took McWhirter to the Polk County Detention Center and as they entered the secured lot McWhirter revealed he had a weapon. After several hours of negotiations, McWhirter shot and killed himself.
