Douglas County sheriff's deputies arrived at a Miltona home shortly before 5:30 a.m. following a 911 call about a domestic disturbance. When deputies arrived, Tyler Schmidtbauer came to the door holding a shotgun. He did not comply with orders to drop the shotgun, and Deputy Alexander Herzberg shot and killed him.
