Police tried stopping a other that was traveling erratically, but the driver led them on a chase that ended around 1:15 a.m., when the other crashed into a street sign, but continued to drive, now in the general direction of the officer. The officer shot and killed the person as he passed close by the officer. He was shot by Officer Sam D. Pynenberg of the Fox Valley Metro Police.
