An officer attempted to pull over a Chevrolet Impala, the car sped away, and police chased it. The car got off the interstate and went off the shoulder of the road near Nathan Thaxton Road, overcorrected and then hit a pickup truck head-on. Five people were killed in the crash, and two others were injured. Killed were Judy Martin, 72; Sandra Bowden, 76; Ebony Young, 25; Sukquawn Hayes, 26; and Shikym Jenkins, 23. Shikym Jenkins was allegedly driving the pursued car.
