Around 2:15 a.m. in the Epicentre, two CMPD officers were working off-duty in uniform when they responded to reports of an altercation. Officers Kevin Lovell and Shane Mathews shot and killed Treon McCoy, who was reportedly shooting a handgun at another person and refused to comply with police demands to drop the weapon. The other person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
