Deputies attempted to stop Juan Ayon-Ruiz for reckless driving about 9:29 p.m. He fled at a high rate of speed, exiting the freeway in Muscoy. He veered off the roadway and struck a mailbox. Ayon-Ruiz reversed his other and allegedly rammed the patrol car, and a deputy shot and killed him.
