Police set up a roadblock near Allen Road and the Highway 51 Bypass to stop James Thomson, who was suspected of shooting at Fort Gibson police. Thompson eluded the police roadblock and after a short chase exited his car and fled on foot. While fleeing, Thompson allegedly fired a handgun toward officers, two officers shot and killed him.
