Around 5:34 p.m., someone called the Onondaga County 911 Center to say a man was trying to break down a door at Crippen Apartments. The caller said the man was acting erratically, police said. Officers arrived within minutes and saw the man with a knife. The man stabbed an officer in the neck with the knife and was shot and killed.
